* About The Texas Connection Band *
Pop has been playing music since he was a kid.  In the 60's he performed with a band
"Mike and the Mini Mob" but found his love of country music and joined "Irve Criner and
the Sunflower Troubadours".  While in the Air Force he joined a group that was awarded
a contract by the USO and played 26 military clubs in 10 days.

Pop is great to work with, whatever songs or jobs we have to do he's there front and
center.  Not only is Pop a great performer, but his knowledge of sound systems as a
professional sound person has been a tremendous help as he sets up the sound for
our shows and dances.

Ike was born on a farm in Iowa and played in the band throughout his high school
years.  After he graduated he started his music career playing with Ray Alto Cowboys
band for $8.00 a night.  After this he played with the Andy Doll Band and later on with
Pee Wee King (writer of Tennessee Waltz, Slowpoke, Bonapart's Retreat and You
Belong To Me fame).

Ike retired from music and went into business for himself, a beauty shop and 2
restaurants.  He later retired from those jobs and is now back to his first
love........playing music

Ike's horns are a great compliment to our band and really help bring in our "Big Band"
sounds.
This is a group of very talented professional musicians and singers.
When you hear them, you may see that this band not only plays great
but they also have more fun than any other group of musicians you
may have heard.

We provide the best entertainment available and give our listeners a
varied range of music styles, specializing in Texas Swing (Bob Wills
style) and classic country as well as many newer hits.  We also play
our own unique versions of standards from the Big Band Era of the
30’s and 40’s as well as rock 'n roll styles.

Be sure and catch a show or dance.
Early on Steve marched snare drum with Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps in
Rockford, IL in '78 and then was on the teaching staff from 1979-1982.

Next he joined the "Drifters of Victoria" and played in concerts with B.J. Thomas and
Exile.

In 1989 Steve worked in a recording session with George Strait's band "Ace In The
Hole".  Later in Austin he played with the band "Peoples Choice".

Steve has performed with great artists such as Lone Star, Johnny Rodriquez, Pam
Tillis, Charlie Pride, Rick Trevino and Clay Walker.

Throughout his music career Steve has also taught in the public school schools of
Texas for 21 years.  He is currently teaching music at Edcouch-Elsa High School.

Steve is a great asset to the Jim King Band.  You must check out  this great performer.
